HEG Community Café is about much more than tea and coffee. Our mission is to create a friendly, affordable and inclusive community space where everyone feels welcome.

Whether you come along to meet friends, enjoy lunch, find some company, bring the family or simply sit with a cuppa for a while, there is always a place for you at our table.

Run for the community, with the help of our fantastic volunteers, the café aims to bring people together, reduce isolation and make good food and refreshments accessible to everyone.

We serve hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks and light lunches, with hot food available too. Our pay-what-you-can-afford approach helps ensure that cost doesn't have to be a barrier to joining us.

Our kitchen food is sourced from food waste through the FareShare scheme administered by local organisation SOFEA.

The café also supports HEG's wider environmental aims. Where possible we make use of locally grown produce, including seasonal produce from HEG Grows, and help find homes for surplus food that might otherwise go to waste.

There are games and chess available, space to meet and chat, and a relaxed atmosphere where you're equally welcome whether you stay for ten minutes or the whole afternoon.

Help us cook, serve, or simply welcome people through the door.
